My baby turned 2!

Newborn Brady

We had a busy and great weekend! On Saturday, my baby turned 2. It was a fun day! On Saturday morning, we took the kids up to Grandma and Grandpa Davis' house to have Brady's party. Steve and I dropped the boys off in the morning so we could go pick up his cake, balloons, and lunch. Our first stop was for the balloons. All I can say is that they filled the entire back seat in the car! Next was to Sam's Club to pick up the cake. We got inside and made our way back to the bakery. There was a miscommunication and the lady behind the counter said she couldn't find our cake and it must be at the Layton Sam's Club. I almost started crying! We didn't have time to go pick up his cake from Layton!! Eventually, we worked out the miscommunication and she found the cake. After that, we went to Papa Johns to pick up the pizza and finally headed back to grandma and grandpa's. When we got there, everyone was there waiting for us. We got lunch going and then opened presents and had cake and ice cream. It was a fun time getting together with family to celebrate Brady's birthday. Also, here's Brady's birth story:

I went in for a doctor’s appointment a few days before you were born and Dr. Smith told me that I wouldn’t be able to go back to work. She said I could either start my maternity leave now and wait for you to come, or I could be induced a couple of days before your due date of February 9. I opted to be induced because I didn’t want to waste my maternity leave (I only got 6 weeks).

The hospital called us on the morning you were born and told us to come in at 9:30 AM. We made it to the hospital and my pitocin and IV were started by 10 AM. I only had mild contractions and the nurses came and checked me often. Dr. Smith came in at about 1 PM to break my water. It hurt pretty badly. Shortly after that, I asked for my epidural. They had some problems getting it started and I had to lie down on my side for them to find the spot to put it in. Finally, at 2 PM, my epidural was set.

The nurses kept coming in to check on me and my progress was a little slow. Aunt Leslie, Bekka, Grandma Davis, Grandpa Davis, and Aunt Stacey were at the hospital waiting for you to arrive. At about 6:30, the nurses told me I was dilated to an 8. Dr. Smith came back in at about 6:50 PM and I was starting to push. You were having a hard time coming out. Dr. Smith had to use forceps to get your head out. Finally, it happened followed quickly by the rest of your body. We were so happy to finally have you in our lives! We waited a really long time for you to come. You were born at 7:19 PM after a 9+ hour labor and you were 8# 4oz and 20 inches long.

Welcome to the world son! We love you!

We also made a trip up to Logan this weekend. My new niece was born on Feb 2. She's a cute and tiny little thing with tons of black hair! Congrats to Dave and Loni on the birth of little Samantha Kate!

We stayed the night in Logan and came home on Sunday afternoon to have our monthly family dinner. My mom made taco salads and everyone was there. I love getting together with the family, and it makes me sad to leave to go home. It was a great weekend!!
