One year ago today, we welcomed little Jackson into the world. We are so happy to be his parents and love him so much! He has always been a great baby and very tolerant of Brady's loves. When he's tired or upset, we can calm him down by singing I Am A Child Of God. He's got so much personality!

We had a mini party for him today. I couldn't wait to give him his presents! Brady and Jackson both "helped" me make cupcakes (and by "help" I mean posed for the pictures). Brady and I both tasted one after lunch. They were yummy! After Steve got home from work, we had a quick dinner and then sang to Jackson. He definitely needed a tub after the cupcake! Once the tub was done, we let him have his presents. He loved them! We can't wait for the family party on Saturday. I'll have to pick up his cake (by the way, I nearly cried when I ordered it) that morning. Brady helped me pick it out. It will be done in Baby Winnie the Pooh and Baby Tigger.
Jackson's Birth Day:
I woke up at 2 AM on Tuesday, November 11 to contractions. I woke Dad up and we monitored them until about 3:30 AM when we went to triage at the hospital. They checked me in and got me settled with monitors on my belly to check your heart rate and the strength and timing of my contractions. They were coming about every 5-7 minutes and were getting strong. They checked to see how dilated I was and there was no change from Sunday. I was still a 2 and 90% effaced. They left us alone for about an hour and when they checked me again at about 5:15 AM, there was still no change. Even though my contractions were strong and regular, they wouldn't admit me. They told Dad and me that we could wait another hour and see if there's a change or go home and take a warm bath and drink a lot of water to see if that would help things along. We decided to go home because Uncle Ryan was home with Brady and he needed to go to work and that way, we could find another babysitter for Brady.
We got home just before 6 AM and I went straight to the bathtub with a mug full of water. Grandma Davis decided to drive down and watch Brady while Dad and I either rested or went to the hospital. I relaxed in the bath for about an hour and my contractions were still hard. After the bath, I decided to take a shower so I could get ready and look good for pictures just in case you decided to come today. When I was done in the shower, I got dressed and put my hair in a towel between contractions which were still very close and intense. I decided to watch TV to take my mind off of it (Sanford And Sons). Brady woke up at about 7:45 AM. We called Grandma to find out where she was while Brady and Dad were having breakfast. She was at about Bangerter Highway. My contractions had gotten very intense and so we called Tanya Mealey to watch Brady since Grandma wasn't here yet. We took Brady over to Tanya's house and Grandma got here just as we were leaving for the hospital. She came into the garage and touched my cheek and said "Good luck! I love you!" Then she went to get Brady from Tanya.
On the way to the hospital, my contractions were right on top of each other. They hurt so bad that I was digging my fingernails into your Dad's hand. It felt like my water was about to break during a contraction when we were about halfway to the hospital. I couldn't breathe very well and my hands were going numb. We finally made it and Dad pulled up to the main door and went inside to get me a wheelchair because I told him I wouldn't be able to walk. As I got in the chair, an employee who was coming in to work asked if we needed help. "Yes, the car is running and I need to go park it" Dad said. The nurse took me upstairs while Dad parked the car. In the elevator, I had a really bad contraction and I was groaning and pushing. When we got upstairs, a nurse had the door open and they took me right to a room. Dad came in the room as they were helping me out of the chair. They asked me if I could get undressed and get a gown on. I told them I'd need help. The nurses helped me get my bottoms off and one said "Nice way to meet each other, huh!". They got me into the bed with my shirt still on because we didn't have time to get the gown on. They didn't have time to put any monitors on. I still wasn't breathing well and my hands were still numb. I was panicking and I said, "I'm not getting my epidural, am I". My doctor was paged to the room because you were coming so fast. I kept saying "I can't do this, I can't do this", and a nurse said "Honey, you already have. He's practically here!" You were crowning and my doctor still wasn't there yet. The nurses were helping me breathe and telling me not to push. During my contractions, I felt like I had to push, so I started pushing. Dr. Smith arrived just after you did. Dad cut your cord and you were perfect and healthy, born at 8:29 AM and weighing 6# 6 oz and 18 inches long. We called Grandma Davis to let her know you were here; she was just as surprised as we were! It was a really easy delivery and recovery. One of the nurses told me that if I got an epidural, it would have started working about 15 minutes after you were born.
Welcome to the world son, we love you!
