Am I Crazy?!?

Recently (and by recent, I mean last week), I started running with a good friend and neighbor of mine in the (EARLY) mornings. It's been nice and peaceful. Not to mention that it's been great getting to know this neighbor better. We've been motivating and encouraging each other and it's been so much fun! I love how peaceful it is; how quiet those early morning hours are before the hustle and bustle begins. But getting up early is not why I'm asking the question "Am I Crazy".

I've been thinking about running races. Not to win, but to finish. I have a goal to run a half marathon before I turn 35 years old. I still have a few years to go to accomplish that goal, but I want to start running 5Ks and 10Ks to get prepared. My first 5K will be on September 18 (as long as I feel fit to run it) and I will be running in honor of my niece Abbi. The anniversary of her passing is that day. I've been getting better with my endurance; I can go for about 2 miles at 4 miles per hour without stopping (on the treadmill). I really want to be ready to run the Top of Utah Half Marathon next August. My sister and sister-in-law will hopefully be running with me. If I can do that, maybe I can do a full marathon before I turn 35... Hence the question, "Am I Crazy". Before I do a full marathon, I'd like to do a few relays. Since you only have to run 3 mile stretches at a time, I think I can handle it... Maybe! Wish me luck!

Good job Shannon! :) I have enjoyed running with you, too. Trent wants to do the red rock relay in So. Utah, which is next month, so I told him we should plan on it next year. I think it is great to have goals! I am thinking I may even be able to do a half {at least by next year.} Good luck! We'll keep running in the early morning hours until it cools off in the daytime, then we can take our kids. See you bight & early tomorrow - hopefully it isn't raining!
