This post is dedicated to my beautiful niece, Abbigale Olivia Wentz.

February 25, 2005 - September 18, 2006

Though it's been more than a year, our hearts still ache for her. None more so than my sister and her family. Abbi's story is told on her website: www.abbigale-wentz.virtual-memorials.com/ As mothers, fathers, granparents, aunts, and uncles, we strive to make our homes a place of peace and safety. I have very few memories of Abbi, which I regret more than anything. I've always lived further away and didn't make the time to visit like I should have. You always assume that you will have unlimited time with the ones you love. She was a "Mommy's Girl" like nothing else. Anytime I would hold her, she'd look around for my sister and cry for mom. She was a thumb sucker. I used to pull her thumb out of her mouth repeatedly just to see what she would do. It would make her mad. When we went to a swimming party for my mom's work, I gave her a peanut butter finger. She really liked me then. When she was born, I used to hold her and tell her that I was her favorite aunt and that I would always have candy, gum, and stickers for her. I want to make as many people aware of the dangers of corded window treatments as I possibly can. There are NO safe blinds with cords. A great website to refer to: http://www.pfwbs.org/ Please let others know. Pass this website along. Let's keep our kids safe!

So sweet... She has been my inspiration to get cordless blinds in my house! Life is too precious!

Shannon,
I'm so sorry for all of you guys. That is so heartbreaking. I never thought about the cords on blinds. That's really scary. You crack me up with pulling her thumb out of her mouth repeatedly just to see what she would do! That is something that my Dad would have done.
